2011 in Review :
I gave up some very bad habits and found all new ones.
I changed my eating and exercise routines.
I always was a junk food junkie and loved my beer. I still love my beer (well not at the moment) .
I went from eating everything in sight while watching soaps to eating in portions followed with swimming, cycling and running.
I managed to complete a few goals in races and actually placed for a spot on the podium. Unexpected, but it was such a rush. I have 4 new medals and lots of new amazing memories. I am so excited that some of my friends and family have decided to give things a Tri or a run .. I have been motivated, pushed and at some points dragged ( all good) by an amazing support group of family and friends. Without all of them it would have been a rough road.
The highlight of the journey was crossing the finish line in my first ever 5 mile run with my amazing daughter Kayli and the others with a great friend and trainer..hehe
I have found a new respect for my mind and body. No matter what I will always Tri my hardest and never give up !!
2012 will hold many great new things. I can't wait to complete more goals and strive harder than ever before.. Of course after the baby is born.
I am a small town mother of 4 who married the Athletic Hot Homecoming King from her German class in High School. I was never Athletic but have found a new love to Swim . Bike. Run ( yes, in that order ) My husband and I both grew up in this county and love raising our 4 children here.

What not and whatever
Back at it and more sore than ever. 5 miles ran yesterday along with a 7.2 mile ride. My crotch feels swollen and my butt on fire!
Must be the newfound blood volume in that region. I guess this happens in pregnancy!
So, not what I was expecting myself to do but did it nonetheless. I haven't went in nearly a month and thought ....I got this, right? WRONG!
I felt like a 20 year smoker, I couldn't catch a breath, sweatier than usual and lost nearly 1 and half minutes on my mile time. Whatever.
Felt crappy yesterday and today. Throwing up again with no energy, this kid is really taking it all out of me or maybe I am taking it out of myself.
So, I got this really cute new running outfit. Tried it on. FAIL! Its too tight and I look like the pillsbury dough boy trying to squeeze into gumbi's clothes. Whatever.
In the previous weeks : Kids say the darndest things;
Kayli: ( before knowing we were pregnant)
I think I am getting whatever you got mom. ( Yeah right kid, dad get the shotgun)
Cam: (seeing sonogram) Well if thats not a boy we are having a sister with 3 legs.
KC : I no want no more bubba or sissy , I da baby . Squeezes my belly button together and says "stay there". No Joke every night !

Advice welcomed ; opinions not so much!
First I cried, then I laughed!
First off, the appointment for the oversized cysts on my overies are now completely dissolved and no longer a concern for me or the baby.
Sonographer spent almost an hour measuring and looking and even showed me the little kid the is making me so sick. I am not complaining , just making a statement.
Also, says its a guess but we may be buying some more Pink. But then again the specialists from last week pretty much noted the boyhood. So it remains a mystery until the new year!
Also she is thinking what the first appointment showed and I am still due in May.. hmm!
In case anyone was wondering or shaking heads. The NP from a previous post who said, "NO WAY" on running or riding is not my actual OB.
My OB said, "YES WAY"!
Go for it girl. YAY me ..
Although I have had a little setback with the sickness I am going to start back slow this week and of course I will listen to my body.
I love the advice from others but when given opinions or funny looks of disapproval about what I am doing during pregnancy can easily piss a girl off.
I mean Hello, My body is use to doing all of this and there is the approval from the baby Dr.
Being left out is another.Really? I have coordinated and maintained a pretty good schedule I think. I would assume you would include me in yours, pregnant or not! I know, I know..Its the hormones raging through my veins!
Training for well over a year and very open to anyone and everyone who wants to come out with me.I will support and encourage you NO matter what.
In 3 weeks I will race in a 2.7.2 (Run.Ride.Run) Lets see how many opinions and looks of disbelief I get..Oh well
Baby on board and Bun not he run.

Puke.Exhaustion.Frustration with some relief
Well the last 2 weeks have been full of Pukes.Exhaustion.Frustration.
I missed my Jingle Bell Rock'NRun with the girls I had been training with because I was in ER 2 times with Bacterial Bronchitis, Dehydration and Malnutrition.
I know it isn't the last race I will do but still frustrating.
So the good news is we also have seen the specialist for the little baby although they moved my due date from May to June the baby is doing excellent with a strong heartbeat and all FOUR chambers.. YAY
After having a baby with half a heart one would understand the excitement.
All that said everything else looks good "for now" Okay. Ummmmm, vague much? What does this mean. Well we will see you back in 4 weeks for a follow up. A follow up for what?
So, I guess in 4 weeks we will now a little more.
As for me besides being brutally ill.
The cysts growing on my overies are still there and have had two ultrasounds to watch them. I have another scheduled ultrasound on Friday to determine the size I guess.
I am hoping we have cut out all the weeks of the scary feeling and pukiness and I can get along feeling a little healthier.
The lithe man in the back of my head is saying " test the waters , go for a ride on your bike or a trail run at the lake "
Hopefully next week !!

Pregnant not disabled
At my first pre- natal appt I was still a little shell shocked.
This was not my plan. I just became a Triathlete for crying out loud. I was doing me.
I had big plans for the upcoming year. I had my 3 babies. I am done.
Are you sure I am pregnant? Yes, here is the heartbeat.
Can I still do all my rides and runs, can I race? NOPE . Your pregnant, take it easy !!
Did she really just say that? Yep !!
Complete denial. This can't be happening . I just ran 5 miles and rode my bike 15. I am all cute and in shape. Even got a little 4 pack going on. ( Lost 2 somewhere in between the other 3 pregnancies )
No, this is not even possible. I was careful. We looked at the calendar. How did this happen.
Apparently training like a mad women 6 days a week my have screwed up my cycle. Yes, I should have had a red flag when the week of the Irongirl things were "off".
Okay TOTAL ass right here, right? Right!
How selfish of me to think this way.
That night I got home. Washed my ever so puffy face ( crying, its not good for the face) put on my hot little spandex running shorts and my tight little sports shirt, laced up my shoes and went out for a pitty run. I felt great, what do you mean I can't run?! I am Pregnant not disabled.

I want to Tri ...
Lets back up :
So 3 weeks after I gave birth to our 3rd child I was playing 2nd base for our local softball team. I played the first few months of the pregnancy and was excited to get back on the field.
Softball and coaching volleyball was about the only active aspect in my life . . I trained. Ran the first 5 miles ever in my life in March.
During that time I got this crazy idea that I was going to do a TRIATHLON ..
I didn't really even know what exactly it was. It just sounded really good.
So for my birthday I wanted a bike. Are you kidding me.. A BIKE?? I haven't rode a bike since I was like 12.
Happy birthday.. Trex Lexa WSD Oh yeah I am cruising now.
Short story now.
5 miler~ crossed the finish line with my daughter just under an hour.
I completed a Super sprint Tri ~ stood on the podium for 3rd age group 5th overall
Completed Sprint Tri Irongirl ~Crossed the finish line with hand in hand with my training partner and friend.
Turkey trotted for our local food bank and even shared 2nd place with my running partner and friend :)
I fell in LOVE with my wetsuit, my Lexa and my Nike Free runs !!
I am a TRIATHLETE
